BEST of Friends Country Music Club hosts a double bill of popular solo artists at the Masonic Hall in Chambers Street tomorrow night (Saturday).

Performing his tribute to the legendary Jim Reeves will be radio, TV and recording artist Paul Wheater. Also on stage will be radio and recording artist and former BBC Radio Lincolnshire country music show presenter Mick Smith.

Yorkshireman Paul Wheater has been a professional entertainer for most of his working life and has played venues from working men’s clubs, through most of the major theatres in Britain, up to and including the London Palladium.

Paul has always been likened to country music legend Jim Reeves and started his touring tribute show to the great man in 1994, the 30th anniversary of Jim’s death.

Country music fans who have missed Mick Smith’s weekly country show on local radio will be happy to see the man in person. Although best known as a country DJ, Mick is certainly no slouch when it comes to performing live, and he will be playing and singing some of the music he shared over the East Midlands radiowaves for nearly 35 years.

The evening will take its normal format of concert and supper. Doors open at 6pm, supper is served 45 minutes later, and the show commences at 7.30pm.

Admission price including supper is £11.50 with limited tickets available.
