MUSIC: Hard, swinging modern jazz at Grantham Con Club

John Patrick

Grantham Conservative Club’s next jazz night is on Thursday when they proudly present the John Patrick Trio.

John Patrick’s piano playing has graced the performances of many American stars who have visited the country since the 1960s.

For many years, John fronted his own big band and has been one of UK’s top professional musicians for more than five decades, in demand globally at international jazz festivals, but he is at his best in a small group playing hard swinging modern jazz.

He will be performing at the Castlegate-based club with his trio, featuring Percy Pursglove (trumpet), Zoltan Dekany (bass) and John Gibson (drums).

He will also be accompanied by the Birmingham Trombone Ensemble, making this a big band with outstanding jazz.

Doors will open at 7pm and the jazz will commence at 8.30pm. Entrance for members is £10 and non-members £12.

For more information, call the club on 01476 564899.
