NEARLY 24,000 votes were cast in the race to name Grantham’s Christmas #1 song and this Sunday you can listen to the top three original tracks, as voted by you, at a special gig at Eden Wine Bar.
The winning band, which received an incredible 7,176 votes, is The Mondays with track Seize The Night.
The Bingham students will be headlining the special Christmas #1 gig, which starts at 7.30pm, with a mixture of original and cover tracks.
There was a close battle in the voting on the Journal website between the next three bands to gain second and third place and the chance to play at the gig.
But when the votes were counted at noon on Monday JJ. Youngstar held the second spot in the top three with 5,116 votes, which was a 22 per cent share.
The band will be playing its Christmas chart track Undo The Ties and many more at the gig in the Market Place.
The final spot at the top of Grantham’s Christmas chart was taken by electro band Electraset with track Cafe Inferno. They gained an impressive 21 per cent share with 4,887 votes.
The incredible range of musical styles will mean that there is something to suit most tastes at the Journal’s Christmas #1 gig.
