A Student Summer Concert will take place at St Wulfram’s church on Sunday (August 31) featuring some of the town’s best young musicians.

The concert, organised by former KGGS student Penny James, will include a blend of popular, classical, folk and film music.

Proceeds raised will go to St Wulfram’s spire and church building fund, the Macmillan Cancer Support charity and the St Barnabas Hospice in Lincoln.

Penny said: “I’m really excited about this concert. We are very fortunate to have several of the town’s best musicians, both past and present, playing. It promises to be an event not to be missed.”

Penny wanted to organise the concert in memory of her late grandfather, John James, who was cared for by Macmillan nurses and the staff at the St Barnabas Hospice in Lincoln. He used to also enjoy coming to hear her play at concerts at St Wulfram’s Church and Penny is keen the three organisations will benefit from the proceeds.

The concert will start at 3.30pm.

Tickets are available, priced £7 adults and £5 concessions, from Simmonds Music Grantham or on the door and there will be a raffle and refreshments.
