Offer your skills as a volunteer at Lincoln Castle

Lincoln Castle
Lincoln Castle

The Heritage Skills Centre at Lincoln Castle is holding two volunteer open days on Saturday, February 20, and Saturday, March 12.

Kathryn Banfield, Heritage Skills Centre manager, said: “The centre is a fantastic resource unique to the county, which we use to teach and raise awareness of traditional craft, conservation and building skills. We run courses in everything from stained glass to stonemasonry, including hand embroidery, felt, leatherwork, pottery and silversmithing.

“We’re looking for people who can help out with our wide range of activities, demonstrating crafts and talking about all the centre has to offer. We would love to meet passionate people who can help us to spread the word about what we do.

“We are keen to hear from people with variety of different backgrounds. Perhaps someone may have a craft they would like to share with others, or maybe they are keen to develop their knowledge in heritage skills? But equally we would love people to come along who have an interest in the centre and are keen to find out more.

“Volunteering can be such a rewarding experience and great way of getting into the sector as well as meeting likeminded people.

“As a thank you, we also offer free access to the castle and some events for a year to any volunteers who give 50 hours to our site.”
