THEATRE: Made in Dagenham at Grantham Guildhall
Harrowby Singers’ latest musical, Made in Dagenham, is an adaption of the true story of the ladies of Ford Dagenham, set in the 1968 Ford car factory, one of the largest single private employers in the UK.
The story begins when the women employed by Ford were re-evaluated as unskilled workers.
The lead of this musical is one ordinary factory girl, Rita O’Grady. Married to a Ford man herself and with two young children, she dedicates herself to the struggle for equal pay with a strike that changed women’s lives.
The show, being staged at Grantham’s Guildhall Arts Centre between March 15 and 18, is filled with upbeat songs and rousing chorus numbers like Made In Dagenham, Everybody Out and Stand Up.
This new British musical comedy promises to get you up and dancing in the aisles.
Tickets, priced at £10 for the Wednesday and £12 Thursday to Saturday, are available from the Guildhall Arts Centre box office (www.guildhallartscentre.com) or call 01476 406158.
