Two very different films begin their run at the Reel cinema this week.
The Book Thief (12A) and Non-Stop (12A) both start today. The Book Thief, based on Markus Zusak’s novel, is the story of orphan girl Liesel in Second World War Germany. She learns to read with encouragement from her new family and Max, a Jewish refugee who they are hiding under the stairs. For Liesel and Max, the power of words and imagination become the only escape from the tumultuous events happening around them.
The film stars Sophie Nelisse as Liesel together with Geoffrey Rush and Emily Watson.
Non-Stop is a full-throttle action picture starring Liam Neeson and Julianne Moore. Neeson plays an air marshal who springs into action during a transatlantic flight after receiving a series of text messages that put his fellow passengers at risk unless the airline transfers $150 million into an off-shore account.
Also showing over the week is The Lego Movie (U) and this weekend there are screenings of Mr Peabody and Sherman (U) and Frozen (PG).
The Kid’s Club film this weekend is Free Birds (U).
